National statitics committee participates in the International Seminar "The Quality of Official Statistics: Challenges and Opportunities"

A high-level seminar organized by Eurostat for heads of national statistical offices in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) and Mongolia is held in Minsk. The theme of the seminar is "Quality of official statistics: challenges and opportunities".

Representatives of the statistical services of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, France, Switzerland and Eurostat also attend the seminar.

During the seminar, participants will become familiar with the latest quality changes that have taken place in the last year in the European Statistical System, as well as the results of recent global quality assessments in the EECCA countries. The results of monitoring the implementation by the EECCA countries of the recommendations developed during previous global assessments will also be presented.

Within the framework of the seminar, a number of sessions are planned, which will address the presentation of statistical data which is needed to monitor progress towards sustainable development goals (SDG), use of administrative data sources, advantages and disadvantages of their use, evaluate and improve the quality of such sources, coordinate national statistical systems , the value of official statistics. In addition, the seminar participants will discuss the interaction of Eurostat with the EECCA countries, the new regional program of statistical cooperation, the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) and the tasks of the Eastern Partnership for the period until 2020.
